For example, let’s take a look at a study made by the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, which stated that having a positive outlook on life and being a generally happier person, can actually extend your life expectancy. Meaning, you live with a positive mindset, you will live longer.

This particular study also stated, that women who were drastically more positive than others were less likely to die from any major disease such as heart attacks, cancer or any other major health complication.

This study, which was published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, basically proves that thinking positive and keeping your negative thoughts in check has a big impact on your physical health.

Another study, published in the 2005 issue of psychological bulletin found that the happiest people owe their success partly to their optimism and positive mindsets as well. As Muhammad Ali said “I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.”

Dr. Lyubomirsky concluded that, when people feel happy, they tend to be more self-confident, optimistic and energetic, leads others to find them more likeable and sociable. Therefore, happy people are able to benefit more from these perceptions.

Taking these results into account, it is not surprising why everyone keeps constantly telling us to continuously think positive. They aren’t just saying it just to say it, but because they believe it truly works and they want us to improve our life and enjoy it to the fullest.

As another study by the Stanford University showed, an overall positive environment can improve the children’s abilities and significantly reduce their stress levels.
